Having begun studying trumpet at the age of 12 at the Music Center of Kirkwood (the former City Music), Chris Kepley has followed in his instructor’s footsteps and joined City Music’s ranks as a brass instructor. After his formative years at the Music Center of Kirkwood, Chris would go on to earn a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Music Education from UMSL where he studied Classical and Jazz trumpet with Andy Tichenor, Lorenzo Trujillo, Allen Beeson, Joshua MacCluer, and Mark Hyams. Outside of teaching, Chris can be found playing around town with such acts as the Route 66 Jazz Orchestra, Kittens (a Jazz Quartet), and the Washington University Wind Ensemble. Chris also can be found freelancing and playing with various rock ensembles from time to time.
